Krohn Vintage 2017

Deep purple-black center with a vivid purple rim. The quality of the fruit is immediately apparent on the nose. It shows the characteristic aromas of ripeness and black berries from Retiro Novo, Krohn's estate in the Rio Torto valley, but also fresh red berries, fresh plum and apricot that provide strength and vigor. The nose is very aromatic, with pungent notes of cistus mixed with appetizing marjoram and thyme and floral scents of rose and violet. In the background there is a suggestive evocation of forest, pine needles and fern. The palate is slender and bold, with tightly wound linear tannins and fresh berry fruit flavors that linger into a long finish. A wonderfully expressive, fine and perfumed Vintage Port, but with the depth and intensity characteristic of the 2017 vintage.
